Les Deuxluxes au Parc Morgan!

On July 26th, 2017, I was at home cleaning my files and photos from my phone. I transfer everything to a folder in my laptop to make room for more picture taking. As I was going through my previous photos, I noticed one of a poster I had seen earlier that month, the day after I returned from my trip to Europe. It was next to a grocery store where I had just gotten two nectarines and a dairy-free coffee smoothie (that I
LOVE called Go Nuts from Happy Planet). It listed different dates and performers and I took a photo to look at it later.

However I had forgotten about it until then! And when I read through the list of dates I noticed there was a show the next day! On the 27th! I had never heard of the group before, Les Deuxluxes, but after a bit of youtube research, I realized this was a show I definitely would want to assist! And the amazing part I came to realize was that it was a free outdoor show! And there would be food and drinks!

So after work the next day I had a few hours to kill before the evening. I hung around downtown a bit and my wandering felt a bit pointless. I paid for an overpriced and disappointing late lunch and then had a pastry and a coffee near a metro station. I won't lie, I wasn't in a great mood and felt a bit down.. I even considered going back home! (thank goodness I didn't!!)

I watched a few more of their videos and decided that no, I was not going to miss this! Before heading to the Park where they would be playing (Parc Morgan), I stopped at a nearby forever21 because I remembered a pink velvet dress I wanted to try on but was feeling too low earlier to do so.

I didn't have much time however as the show would begin at 6:30 pm! So after I tried on the dress I was on my way!

On the way to the park while on the bus, nearing my stop, it suddenly began to rain! In the middle of sunshine! A huge downpour! I got worried because I didn't have my rainboots on and would be getting out of the bus soon. Miraculously, when I got out of the bus the rain stopped!

When I arrived at the park it was so full of people, and everyone was completely soaked! Had I been there on time, I would have been soaked, too!

Now another amazing thing was that the show had not started yet, even though I was late. I had enough time to buy a poutine and a beer to enjoy before Les Deuxluxes came on.

It was so delicious I didn't have time to take pictures!

Then the show began and it was fantastic. Les Deuxluxes are incredibly talented and have such good songs.

I cannot wait to see them again if ever I get the chance to!

After the sudden torrential rain, a wild rainbow appeared! It was magical!

A gorgeous rainbow and a wonderful crowd cheering and dancing.

I was one of the first people at the merch table and chose to buy a button and their two albums.

Also lucky me, the merch lady gave me back the wrong change so when I returned to get my missing money I saw that Anna Frances Meyer (lead singer and guitarist) was at the table signing things!

And so of course I took my just purchased cd out to get it signed!

She was incredibly sweet and personalized the signature by asking my name and she laughed when I told her I had no idea who they were just the day before and so happened to see a poster about their show while doing some groceries. I feel that she may remember that for a little while, I know I will for a very long time!

It was a memorable and simply fantastic day for me.

Kimbra, again!

Never have I had the luck and pleasure of seeing a singer I love twice in half a year. And yet, that is the case with Kimbra! She was last in my area as an opening act for Foster The People back in June which was such a wonderful show and I will never ever ever forget it. I had a feeling however that Kimbra would be back to headline her own show but I had no idea how soon! A couple months later I found out she would be in town on October 26th! Of course I had my ticket waay ahead of time. Soon that day came and although I didn't have AS an amazing time as back in June (really tough to top anyhow!) it was incredible, Kimbra is truly a talented young artist and seeing her outrageous outfit made me wish I was designing her stage costumes!! I once again took many photos and filmed a few clips but haven't yet put it together to display nicely onto here and so in the meantime here are some of the mobile photos I took and then instagramed for good measure ;)

Even though a bit small, I thought the illustration work was nice.

And of course I had to get my own copy of Vows!

Foster The People - be still my heartbeat!

And here it is, the most extremely belated post there ever was! I saw Foster The People way back in June at the Lachine Canal with Kimbra as one of the opening acts. As I had mentioned in the Kimbra concert recap, I essentially went to see her, knowing that I liked a couple of FTP songs but their performance blew me AWAY. It was so vibrant and energetic and catchy and fun and had me singing and jumping like no one's business. I'm not even exaggerating, they left me elated and I cannot WAIT for the day that I might see them in concert again. I almost regret not buying one of their t-shirts (almost - concert tees are always ridiculously overpriced!).

I leave you now with my wonderful photos (so proud) and a short but sweet video compilation of their performance as so much of my space went to Kimbra's performance, though I'm happy how well it represents the experience. Enjoy!

KIMBRA!!

On June 12th I was at an INCREDIBLE show by the Lachine Canal featuring Foster The People as the main act and Kimbra as one of the two opening acts. It was the day of our big move and my independence (sort of - *sings* I get by with a little help from my friends ;). I had initially heard of FTP coming to my city but wasn't completely sold considering the somewhat pricey ticket (not really but I'm used to paying a bit less). As a separate thought, I decided to look up and see if Kimbra had any shows coming up. Low and behold I find she has one in my city!! And it's with FTP! That sealed the deal and I bought my ticket soon thereafter because I am so blessed to be working.

She played a fantastic set, what a lovely girl! She spoke amazing French and did some live-looping. She also made eye contact with me and smiled when I sung along! Gosh I loved her and was really surprised to find that she's only 21! I was sure she was in her late 20s. She has that old soul aura about her. She held her own so well and had such an awesome band that I have to dedicate a whole post to her. Here are some of my favourite shots and a video montage of the clips I filmed during her performance.

On a last note, lucky me, she's coming back in the fall! YAY!

Hanson at the Corona Theatre

inside the corona theatre.

opening act: Carly Rae Jepsen

front row! yes!!

<3

By far the best Hanson show I've ever been to! And not only because I finally FINALLY got be in the front row and touch/shake hands with the people who make/play/sing the songs that I've loved for more than half my life, but really because the set list was fantastic and they're energy and talent is astounding. It's hard to believe that some of the songs are as old as 15 and others are from just a year ago, it shows the quality of their sound and their longevity. I will admit I acted a bit like a teeny-bopper, which is so embarrassing for my age but if there ever was a time and a place, it was then and there.
