Monday

I actually wish I could say I had a tiring day of work today and am ready to hit the hay face first. But my face has been in the hay (so to speak) all day. I've indulged in some knitting, pigs in blankets with swiss cheese and fresh strawberries from the market, brought over by my aunt. I also continued practicing the guitar, I am so bad right now, but I can tell I'm getting more comfortable little by little. Hard days works indeed.

Plans have been forming in my head, but I can't start executing them because I have no income! It's quite frustrating. A lot of things were generally bothering me today. In other news, hearing about another quite violent riot in London was saddening. I love that city, it holds a special place in my heart, and it's a shame there are such inequalities that it should lead to a revolt. It would be a bit unrealistic to say that the problems will be fixed soon, but hopefully they get a bit better.

Been knitting..

Here is the "thing" I've been knitting recently, it is a replica of a scarf my mother knitted and that I have "borrowed" for an undetermined amount of time. Hers is a really nice chartreuse colour (and I always get compliments when I wear it) but I sort of feel bad when asked if I made it because I have to say no and because I totally could! And so while I watch films or wait for something to cook/bake, I whip out this bundle of blue and knit.. I have quite a way to go since it is large widthwise and will be super long.

my first sock! and other knits :)

Here it is! My first mini sock! Sure it's not a real sock, but it's the first one I've been able to complete and which has taught me the basics of how to knit one. Sock patterns still look a bit scary but at at least I know I am a step closer to knitting real ones, can't wait for that. My little cow from Quebec city (which my younger brother bought for me a few years back during a school trip) makes it even cuter! I followed this tutorial to accomplish the task, it was very clear and concise. Except for the explanation of a kitchener stitch, for that I went here.

Also shown here is a tuque that I knitted (all yarn is acrylic) adorned with a re-purposed felt flower brooch as well as a wrist warmer I knitted a while back but never photographed, I would have to redo the other one as I forgot to knit a row so it looks and feels weird (probably because i can tel :P).
